Credit Monitoring Service Reviews & Your Free Credit Report

All the services listed below are excellent (or they wouldn’t be on this page). They each have their pros and cons, and I am going to share them with you.

CreditReport.com

CreditReport.com is our #1 pick because it is a well-known, solid service at a reasonable price. If you are just interested in your free download of your credit report, this is a good option because they are a reputable company. If you are interested in credit monitoring, CreditReport.com offers comprehensive monitoring complete with alerts and $25,000.00 of identity theft insurance. We rate CreditReport.com so highly because they are a familiar company and provide first-rate service at a reasonable price.

NationalCreditReport.com
Get Your Score From NationalCreditReport

NationalCreditReport.com comes in at a close second. They also offer complete monitoring services, and also at a reasonable price. A benefit of NationalCreditReport.com is that they provide you with a 3-in-1 credit report free of charge. In spite of this, we gave NationalCreditReport.com a 4-star rating instead of 5 stars because the company is not as well known. As with all the companies, be sure to cancel any memberships if you are only looking for your free credit report. NationalCreditReport.com provides $25,000.00 of identity theft insurance in its’ monitoring package, and their service is a reasonable $14.95 per month. .

GoFreeCredit.com
Get Your 3 in 1 From GoFreeCredit

GoFreeCredit.com made our top three because of their complete 3 in 1 credit report and the extensive features they provide in their monitoring service. They also provide identity theft insurance. Sounds great, and we really like their clean and easy operation. As a result of their robust services, they made our top three. GoFreeCredit seems to have got the business formula right, and we would have given them a higher ranking if they have been around longer. It would only be fair for me to mention that they did help a half a million people last year alone. .

Credit Monitoring Services

After contacting each of the credit agencies, I found that they all have a different process to obtain a credit report. I needed to register on each websites, fill out the same information multiple times, and send my personal information for verification multiple times. In addition, I then receive confirmation email from each different company, and now I am on all of their mailing lists - all upselling services to me. Just to be clear, I am not against the upsell of services, after all, many of these additional services are quite valuable, but not everyone needs them at this time. I just don’t want to be bombarded with same offers from each company. I prefer to use a single service that can handle all of my needs.

Before going any further, simply decide why you are here. Do you just want to get a free copy of your credit report? If so, any of these services on this page are fine. With identity theft becoming an ever-increasing problem, consider that some day you will want to (or dare I say need to) monitor your credit activity. If you have A-1 perfect credit, a monitoring service can help you keep it that way. Most of us don't have perfect credit. If your credit is not-so-perfect, a monitoring service would benefit you if you are considering any of the following:

  1. Looking to buy or rent a house
  2. Looking to get a new job or you fear you might lose your job
  3. Looking to get a line of credit
  4. Looking to send your kids to college

The reason your credit is so important when looking to borrow money is because your interest rate is based on your risk, and your risk is based on your credit score. A couple of points in interest can make a huge difference in your monthly payment and can seriously effect your buying power - and your lifestyle. Under such circumstances, a monitoring service can be well worth the nominal fees they charge.
